We thought we would share a post regarding Alberta as we had such an amazing time there in July of 2015.
My son and his fiancé now live there and we will be visiting them in November on our travels to Australia via Vancouver.
Spent some time visiting Clint’s nephew and his family in Calgary and shopping in the heart of the city. Love the low GST of 5% in Alberta.
Another great thing about the FREEDOM of our lives is the fact of being able to visit our kids around the world. We have kids in Ontario, New Brunswick, Alberta and Australia.
Banff is a quaint resort town, located within Banff National Park. The skyline is magnificent with Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Rocky Mountains. On Banff Avenue, there are many people milling about the boutiques and restaurants, with hotels and many souvenir shops. It is a great way to spend the afternoon.
The three sisters are a trio of mountain peaks near Canmore. They are known as Faith (the big sister), Charity (the middle sister) and Hope (the little sister).
We stayed in a hostel as we were trying to make the first week of our travels less expensive. Canmore can be quite expensive so hostels can be a great option.
Canmore was one of our favourite places to visit and will be visiting again in November.
Lake Louise is a breathtaking location in Banff National Park, also in the Canadian Rockies. It is known for the turquoise colour of the absolutely, gorgeous, glazier fed lake. It offers a beautiful resort called Fairmont Banff Springs.
One of our highlights in Jasper was the Athabasca Glaciers which have receded over half of its volume in the past 125 years. It is sad that they are bringing the trucks and tourists out to the glaciers as this only adds to the receding of the volume. The water is so pure that filling up your water bottle and tasting the purity was wonderful.
